Londrigan, Victoria · 150 years of continuous learning

About Carraragarmungee

A small government primary school in the Ovens & Murray region, about 15 minutes from Wangaratta. Our size is our strength. Every child is known, valued and supported to thrive. That is what “The Child at the Centre” means in practice.

Who we are

150 years at the heart of our community

Carraragarmungee Primary School has been serving families across Tarrawingee, Eldorado, North Wangaratta, Byawatha and Londrigan for 150 years. As a Victorian government school, we are part of the Department of Education and proud to offer a genuinely free, high-quality education to every child in our community.

Our small size means we can do something that larger schools find harder: we can truly put each child at the centre. Teachers know their students as individuals: their strengths, their interests, the moments they need a little extra encouragement. That personal connection makes a real difference.

Vision & values

Connecting to Self, School, Community and Environment

Our vision guides everything we plan and teach. We want children to leave Carra knowing who they are, feeling connected to the people around them, and equipped to take on the world with curiosity and confidence.

RRespect

These five values (Courage, Aspire, Respect, Relate and Achieve) are more than words on a wall. They shape how we talk to children, how we resolve a disagreement in the playground, and how we celebrate a breakthrough in the classroom.

From the Principal

Welcome from Marie de Prada

Welcome to Carraragarmungee Primary School. As Principal, I am proud to lead a school that has been at the heart of our community for 150 years. Carraragarmungee is a special place where children can be themselves, laugh and play, be known as individuals, supported to achieve their best, and encouraged to develop a lifelong love of learning.

Our small school offers unique opportunities for students to learn, grow and thrive in a caring and inclusive environment. We value strong relationships and work closely with families to ensure every child feels safe, connected and confident to take on new challenges.

At Carraragarmungee, our vision is to connect students to self, school, community and environment. Through engaging learning experiences, dedicated teaching staff and a strong focus on wellbeing, we nurture curiosity, creativity and confidence in every learner. Our school values of Courage, Aspire, Respect, Relate and Achieve guide everything we do.

One of the greatest strengths of our school is our sense of community. Families, staff, students and community members work together to create a welcoming environment where everyone belongs. I invite you to explore our website, come for a personalised tour, and discover what makes Carraragarmungee Primary School a place where children can truly thrive.

Our facilities

Modern facilities for learning, wellbeing and growth

We have invested in spaces that support the whole child: academic, creative, physical and emotional. Small class sizes mean every resource gets used, and every space feels welcoming rather than crowded.

Modern classrooms and technology

Bright, well-equipped classrooms with contemporary technology to support every learning style.

Wellbeing at the core

A dedicated wellbeing room and two purpose-designed sensory spaces, so every child can feel settled and ready to learn.

Creative and practical learning spaces

Flexible art and music spaces, a modern hands-on kitchen for cooking, health, science and sustainability, and a dedicated physical development space for movement skills.

Grounds and play areas

Extensive rural grounds with a large playground, open grassed areas and sporting facilities, plus a fully undercover basketball court and a smaller paved covered area so children can play outdoors in all weather.

Our community

Everyone belongs here

At Carra, families, staff and students know one another by name. Parents are genuinely welcome to help in the classroom, join in events, ask questions and be part of school life in whatever way works for them.

We have strong partnerships with the broader community around us, and we love finding ways to bring that world into school. Whether it’s a community presentation, a visiting expert, or students sharing their work with the people who matter most to them, those connections are part of what makes a Carra education so memorable.
