MATHEMATICS
FUNDAMENTAL MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTATION
- Mathematics is timetabled for a minimum 5 hours per week and includes:
- Number and Algebra
- Geometry and Measurement
- Statistics and Probability
- Learning in Mathematics is matched to children’s learning needs, with individual and small-group learning tasks
- All students learn via a sequential Mathematics continuum based upon the learning standards contained within the Victorian Curriculum.
- Number Fluency is a feature of Mathematics learning.
- Individual learning plans are developed to support the growth and development of mathematical concepts and skills.
- Professional learning for staff focuses on the implementation of best practice mathematics teaching and learning. This will include in-school and external professional learning.
- Appropriate use of digital technologies, to develop and support mathematics will be incorporated into the mathematics curriculum.
- The use of up-to-date digital and hands-on resources supports the teaching and learning of mathematics.
Individualised learning means tailoring the teaching and learning to meet the child’s learning needs and moving them to the next stage of learning.
